I'm still feeling pretty shaken up, but it seems as though today was fortunate in a way, still.

The reception was winding down when it happened and people could have been a lot more seriously hurt than they were. Still, it's a simply dreadful end for a joyous occasion! I don't really want to say much about it, though.

The reporters from the Prophet seem to be covering it pretty well, and it brings back too many scary memories from the Quidditch World Cup.

The Patils are probably going to make a public statement, but not tonight. The Healers are starting to release people from St. Mungo's, so I expect we'll be heading home soon.

The weather has been absolutely beautiful all day!

I'm sure it's true that marrying on the Lord Protector's Heir's Birthday is quite auspicious, in addition to the other positive omens for today.

Parvati's going to be a stunning bride, and I can't wait to wish her and Inderpal every happiness!

Oh, it looks like the ushers will be calling us soon; I'd better go!

Pav,

How's Padma? Have your parents taken her to see a Healer yet?

It simply has to be a spell or potion of some sort. Even if she did have secret feelings for Malfoy, we both know how much she positively loathes scenes. I suspect Weasley, the beast. Or maybe Porkinson. Though I suppose it could have been Thomas, or really anyone who wanted to undermine her. Not Smith, though--I don't think he's twisty enough to fake that almost-Confunded look.

I feel rather badly about not being able to do more. I was in another room most of the night, and by the time I returned she was running off and only seemed to want to be left alone.

Between this and your suitor troubles, you've both had a difficult hols. Care to come over to mine later, for tea and cakes and a respite from your troubles? Padma is absolutely invited, but I'll understand if she feels too overwrought still.

It's been such a strange start to hols, hasn't it? I gave Dad the biggest hug when I got home because I just kept thinking of the World Cup last year and how much worse that could have been. Don't tell her I told you, but Pav had nightmares the night before we left-about Sanji. She acted like she was fine when I asked her about it though.

It was nice of Greengrass to post the revue results before we left--it was good to have something cheerful to discuss on the train.

Lovegood's at the Weasleys'. I always forget that she practically grew up with them. I think she was afraid Mum wouldn't let her go-I'm not sure why, it's not as if Mum's unfeeling.

Speaking of friends of the Weasleys', what on Earth is Longbum sending you PMs for?

It was great to see you at Diagon!

Has your mum been sort of dropping hints about a surprise of some kind waiting for us at school?

Mine certainly has, and she's been putting her head together with your mum, so I'm sure whatever it is involves both of them--and both of us!

Pav seems a little out of sorts about the whole thing, don't you think?

I mean, she's happy for both of us, I can tell, but I think she's afraid of being left out of things.

Which is ridiculous, but maybe we should do something to cheer her up after we get to school?

I don't suppose you really want come to Liverpool, do you?

It's not as if we'll be inviting loads of other 3rd years for you to hang about with, after all.

Do tell Mum you'd rather stay home, why don't you?

Parvati?

If you're reading this, I've just had the best idea for showing Padma how much we support her!

Come back to the tower with me and let's go through your scarves, all right?

As everyone can see I have Finally got my journal back!

It's got rather tiresome always having to write in Parvati's and put "This is Lavender" at the bottom of every note. Parvati has been a terrifically sweet friend to let me do it though.

Merci, merci, mon ami! (See Mummy, I am Practising my French!)

Anyhow, I was sitting in our room braiding Parvati's hair when one of the school elves popped in (and Startled me, too!) and said 'Professor Lockhart is wanting Miss Brown to come to his rooms immediately.' Of course I was terribly excited and tried to get the elf to tell me what it was all about but all it would say is 'Professor Lockhart is not telling Saffy his business.' I was hoping that he might want to commend me for my Transfiguration work, because I have been working Very Hard at my revision lately, but it was even better!

I went into his rooms and Mummy was in the fire! She had firecalled him to ask if he would like to read at some sort of charity thing she is organising; it's not until summer hols but she believes in planning ahead. And while they were chatting she mentioned that Whiffy our house elf had found my journal and asked if she could give it to me. So Professor Lockhart called me to get it, and he let me talk to Mummy for quite a long time too, which was wizard of him.

The journal was under my bed the whole time! I must have dropped it while I was packing to come back to school. Of course, Mummy being Mummy, she had to lecture me just a bit on how a Proper Lady would keep her room neat. I said that I didn't mean to be disrespectful but I didn't see how it was so important when we have house elves to help with that. She said that that is not the point; the point is that a neat and orderly Home is a sign of a neat and orderly Mind. But she smiled so I know she wasn't truly cross with me.

I do want to be a Proper Lady, but that part of it still sounds tiresome to me. I think some people are naturally neat and orderly, so that it isn't work for them at all--Padma is like that--and other people are more like me and Parvati. It's nice to have a roommate who is just the same as me in that way. I adore Padma but I think we might get cross with each other if we had to share a room every day.
