I don't know when you'll see this, as you're in the Hospital Wing, but...

I'm sorry to hear that you've been hurt; of course no-one seems to know anything for certain, but the rumour going 'round is that Coty and Henri Toubon put you there with a really dreadful hex.

If it was Toubon, well, I'm dreadfully sorry and feel a bit responsible. We, er, quarrelled the night of the Ball and he went off in a positively foul mood. It sounds as though he may have taken it out on you.

You've been nothing but friendly and gentleman-like to all of us here and I certainly wish you the best for a quick recovery.

Thank you. Matron says I can only write brief notes until I'm a bit stronger. Sally-Anne's being kind enough to hold my book.

Please don't ascribe Toubon's actions to anything you may have done. I'm only sorry that you were for any amount of time fooled by him into thinking him worthy of a young lady such as yourself.

I say, Matron's right; holding the quill is surprisingly straining. At any rate, again, thank you most kindly for your concern but I'm very much on the mend.

You've probably already heard, but in case you haven't, Toubon's being sent home. I can't say I'm a bit sorry, only surprised he wasn't punished more severely.
